Will People Leave Facebook for Google Plus? [Google+ Poll]

leave facebook for google plus study

A poll was recently conducted by PCMAG.com asking using whether or not people would abandon Facebook for Google+.

The poll was based on the answers from 6,237 PCMAG.com readers. I think it is important to note that the readers of PCMAG.com are generally interested in technology and I think it is safe to say that many of them are early adopters.

That being said, the results of the poll were, in my opinion, overwhelming. 50% of the respondents reported that, yes, they will leave Facebook for Google Plus.

Considering Facebook has 750 million users, I find it hard to believe that over 300 million people plan to abandon the social network that they’ve been using for years, for a social network that has been in existence for less than 2 months.

If you’ve read any of my previous posts on how Google+ will change the internet or why there have been some user adoption concerns, then you know that I am a very big fan of Google+ and definitely envision a day that I will no longer log in to Facebook.

In the month that Google+ has been public, I’ve seen my Facebook and Twitter activity decrease tremendously! As more people join Google+ and the features of Google+ are refined, I see myself using Facebook less and less.

As I stated earlier, these statistics are a little biased based on the demographics of readers that PCMAG.com has, but they’re also interesting nonetheless.

What do you think? How long do you think it will take for Google+ to have more users than Facebook?
