Dropbox vs. Google Drive Comparison [Video]

The video above is a comparison of Dropbox and Google Drive including security considerations and cost comparisons.

Both file storage utilities have their own pros and cons and choosing the right one for you or your organization depends on your primary reason for using a cloud-based storage service.

Google Drive offers much more functionality than Dropbox including the ability to create many different formats of documents right from the Google Drive web app. When you use Google Drive, you also gain access to all of the other Google services including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sites and YouTube.

Dropbox provides a service that many users are already familiar with and therefore provides an easier transition for organizations looking for a quick way to store files remotely.

Dropbox and Google Drive both offer tiered pricing models with a free option for both services. A free Dropbox account will come with 2GB of space while a free Google Drive account comes with 15GB of space.

When it comes to the cost associated plans, Google Drive ends up being quite a bit cheaper ($5 / month instead of $10 / month).

In the end, it really depends on whether or not your organization is looking for quick solution that user may already be familiar with (Dropbox) or a more fully functional service with more features at a cheaper cost yet requiring a bit more training.
