A new iPhone gadget that measures important vital signs was released at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wired released an article yesterday that outlined the main features of the “Tinke” vital sign monitor for iPhone which are also outlined below.

The Toronto Sun released the image to the right from the 2012 CES. The attachment connects into the same slot as your iPhone charger and will be available in multiple different colors. No specific release date was mentioned but it will surely be before the end of 2012.

To use Tinke, the user holds their thumb over the red lasers located on the device. Results are displayed in numerical and graphical formats on the user’s iPhone.

The “Tinke” iPhone Gadget Can Measure:

  • Blood Oxygen Levels
  • Respiratory Rates
  • Heart Rates

Hopefully this this just beginning of health related apps and advancements. With technology like this, there is no doubt that we use technology to have a positive effect on our everyday lives and standards of living.

Other health related iPhone apps currently on the market include exercise apps, weight-loss apps, calorie and diet trackers, and general medical reference apps.

Similar apps are also in development but will not be as quickly available to everyday consumers as Tinke.
