Google Analytics Real-Time Beta Not Working

Google Analytics Real Time Beta Not Working

At about 5:30pm EST yesterday (December 15, 2011), the Google Analytics Real-Time Beta for this site stopped working. I had my best day in 6 months in relation to visits and since yesterday, the real-time analytics have been reporting 0 visitors.

The overall analytics are still working correctly. If I look at my overall visits for the day and then refresh the page a couple minutes later, the statistics are updated correctly.

After doing some research I found out that I am not the only person experiencing this problem. There is are two posts in the Google Analytics help forum reporting the exact same problem (post 1 & post 2).

There was also a post reporting that although the Real-Time Analytics are reporting a certain number of visitors, the number reported is not accurate according to the owner of the website.

Another one of my analytics profiles is correctly displaying real-time statistics so this bug seems to only only affect specific profiles.

I’ve really been enjoying the Google Analytics Real-Time Beta feature because it is very helpful in observing how your marketing efforts can have immediate effects on traffic, etc.

If anyone else is experiencing this problem or similar problems, please let us know in the comments below so we can try to figure out how widespread the problems are.

I'm having the same problem. I thought it was related to Google forcing me to split my email address into a "business" (@myDomain.com) address and a "personal" (@gmail.com) address, because it was working fine until I broke down and did the conversion.

For weeks, from time to time, the left hand side of the real-time tracking slips down below the map section, so there is no visible record of visits in the previous half hour. I can see a few mm of the top of the taller columns.

This is also the same on my mobile website tracking.

I am facing the similar problem. Analytics is working but showing 10 to 30 visitors per day instead of 2000 to 3000 on my blog http://latest-bollymovies.blogspot.comand real time beta is also not working . its just loads and loads.

I know this is a little bit late to be posting to this article, but I am searching everywhere for a fix to my problem, which is the fact that the real-time page just says loading and stays there. i have sent many emails to google forums and not had one reply, I am starting to pull my hair out, it is so annoying. My friends comes around on his laptop and can access it through the same internet connection. It is the same with firefox and google, so I really am dumbstruck. Any help greatly appreciated

      Carsten,

Is Google Analytics working for your site other than the real-time analytics? Two weeks seems like a really long time and I haven't heard of anyone else having problems recently.

The problem was partly my own error – I had forgotten that you MUST use the adminstrator account for real-time beta to work, other accounts can show all the other analytics data except the real-time beta.

    1. Anson Alexander says:

I figured it was a problem with your specific situation but that is interesting to know. I only use the Admin account so I've never run into the problem but I didn't know that other accounts didn't have access to real-time beta.

      Best of luck to you!

My real time analytics stopped working maybe 5/6 weeks ago and its still not working. I only have one web site. The normal analytics are working fine.
