Amazon Echo – How To Change Name / Wake Word

The above Amazon Echo video tutorial shows users how to change the Echo wake word from Alexa to either Echo or Amazon.

Currently Amazon does not support changing the wake word to a custom name but hopefully this feature will be implemented in the future.

It has also been discovered that calling your Echo “Brolexa” or really anything that ends in “lexa” will work for activation when the wake word is set to “Alexa”.

To change the wake word for the Amazon Echo, you need to access the Alexa app on your smartphone and access then access the settings for your Echo.

Within the settings section, there is an option to toggle between the three wake words – Alexa, Amazon and Echo.

I will update this video and post as soon as Amazon implements a way to use custom names / wake words with the Amazon Echo.

As always, if you find this video helpful, I would really appreciate a thumbs up and you may also want to think about subscribing to my YouTube channel.
