Gmail to Update Interface / Design [Leaked Video]

Google is set to make some major interface and functionality changes to Gmail. The above video was leaked last week and has since been blocked on YouTube. As some of you may know, I’m not a big fan of censorship so I’m reposting the video here – we’ll see how long it lasts.

The video explains and demonstrates that Gmail will be receiving interface updates such as the ability to resize the app to any window, the ability adjust the “density” of your Gmail to fit your taste, a complete redesign of how conversations are viewed, an update search box and improved functionality for Gmail themes.

Based on the above video, the new look in Gmail will make the email application feel more social and be more intuitive. When viewing an email from a particular person, you will be able to view other recent email froms that users much more easily.

The new Gmail interface is definitely similar to the new interfaces within Google Docs and Google Calendar. It definitely seems like Gmail is trying to streamline their products and create a brand-wide design and GUI.
