macOS Finder Sidebar Icons Missing – How to Display [Video]

If all or some of your Finder sidebar icons are missing on your Mac OS X computer, the video tutorial above will show you how to permanently display the missing finder sidebar icons.

The tutorial will also show you what to do if your entire sidebar menu is missing on your Mac OS X computer.

The icons you’re looking for probably lead to one of the following places on your Mac:

  • Applications
  • Desktop
  • Documents
  • Downloads
  • Movies
  • Pictures

You can easily re-add these items to the sidebar in your finder window by opening up finder, clicking on the “Finder” dropdown menu in the top toolbar and then clicking on “Preferences”.

A window will appear and under the “General” tab users can click a checkbox to display all of their preferred locations within their Finder window sidebar.

If your Finder window sidebar is missing altogether then you should open a new Finder window, click on the “View” dropdown menu in the top toolbar and select the option that says “Show Sidebar”.

As always, if you find this video helpful, I would really appreciate a thumbs up and you may also want to think about subscribing to my YouTube channel.
