How to change your Google / Gmail account password on an iPhone or iPad.

Changing your Google account / Gmail password on an iPhone or iPad may seem like a simple task but once you need to do it, you may have trouble finding the option to change your password.

In reality, changing your password from an iPhone or iPad isn’t that hard but it does take some digging. The problem is that you cannot change your Gmail password from the Apple Mail app or from the Gmail app for iOS.

Instead, you must use a browser app (most likely Safari) and access one of Google’s desktop sites.

How to Reset Google Password Using an iPhone / iPad:

  1. Open up any browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.) on your device.
  2. Go to http://www.google.com/settings/passwordchange.
  3. Enter your password if you know the current one – you will be then prompted to create a new one.
  4. Alternatively, you can tap on the “Need help?” link if you don’t know your current password.

Once you learn this trick, your Google / Gmail password can be changed in less than a minute.

As of 2017 there is no way to change your Gmail password by using the Gmail App or by going into your iOS settings.

This tutorial was originally posted in 2013 but was updated in 2017 to be as relevant as possible.
